Gia…

Therapist I

As an art therapist, I use my lived experiences with disability to cultivate empathy and create environments where people can become empowered through art-making, reduce internalized stigma, and experience a sense of belonging. It is my personal belief that art materials are a way to connect with other people, process difficult experiences, and work through emotions. I work from a collaborative, person-centered, relational, and strengths-based approach. This means I will use non-judgment to consider all aspects of your life and identity— while remaining open to things that cannot be changed. I utilize an intersectional feminist lens and I specialize in trauma, anxiety, boundaries, relationships, abuse, sexuality, gender exploration, life transitions, disability, memory loss, identity exploration, and resiliency work.

When meeting with a potential client I consider you in the context of your relationships. I also consider how our identities and systematic oppression often impact our opportunities and quality of life. When working together we can move through difficult therapeutic concepts in an accessible and warm way. With your permission, I hope to guide you through challenging life transitions and support you in creating a life that you feel is worth living.

Grace…

Clinical Intern

I’m a multi-disciplinary artist with extensive experience in theater, dance, ceramics, and photography.

My work as an art therapist is existential at heart, within a social justice framework. I specialize in trauma-informed, person-centered therapy and regard myself as comforting without being coddling. Someone once told me that talking with me is like slipping into a booth at a diner with an old friend.

I use art in therapy as a way to meditate and relieve stress, as well as a conduit to internal emotions. Often, people have a way of expressing themselves more accurately through art than with verbal communication, and I utilize that concept in my work with clients. I have a wide breadth of knowledge in various artforms and I am able to adapt to whatever the client is interested in doing. I thrive on helping people find their meaning and help them to navigate this unique human experience.

Rachael...

Rachael Zutty, ATR-BC, LCPC

I am passionate about working with individuals whose life has been touched by depression, anxiety, trauma and vicarious trauma. (Pronouns:she/her/hers)

BFA: Painting

MA: Art Therapy and Counseling, 2012

I am a queer, bicultural, first-generation Cuban-American born and raised in the Midwest. I have been enriched by purposefully surrounding myself with diversity. My personality is direct and approachable. Curiosity, humor and compassion are central. I approach therapy collaboratively and compassionately, drawing from cognitive-behavioral, insight-oriented, and relationship-focused methods. I find that art making can assist with the physical impact of our daily stressors and can open up new and creative ways to see life’s challenges. I work in ways that are both supportive and challenging.

DEB…

Therapist II

Deb offers individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy to adults and adolescents.  Her approach is warm, collaborative, and strength-based. She realizes that the process of entering therapy, whether for the first time or after multiple attempts at finding the right therapist or managing issues effectively, is an intimidating and overwhelmingly emotional process; thus, Deb fosters a trusting environment filled with compassion and acceptance to build a supportive relationship. Deb conceptualizes the therapeutic process as a way to integrate the various masks that an individual presents to the world into one cohesive whole. Incorporating the pieces of one’s history and personality leads to greater satisfaction with oneself and those around them. Deb utilizes an integrated approach to therapy that is individualized and evolves over the course of therapy.
